Student Resources

Career Services
At the Kansas City Art Institute, we believe that preparing students for success in the workplace is as important as helping them succeed in the classroom. Beginning their first year, our students participate in sequenced, career-related experiences that facilitate their journey to graduation and help them plan beyond the completion of their B.F.A. degree.

Our career services office provides information and counsel to both students and alumni while serving as a hub for job-related resources.

Our office, library and computers are available from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Feel free to drop by for quick questions, call 816-802-3443 to schedule an appointment, or e-mail at careerservices@kcai.edu.

Academic Resource Center
All KCAI students are invited to take advantage of services provided by the Academic Resource Center (ARC). The ARC is located on the second floor of the Jannes Library and Learning Center. ARC services are aimed at enhancing a student's experience throughout her or his academic career at the Kansas City Art Institute. ARC staff members take a holistic approach and are committed to the evolving educational, personal and professional development of all students at KCAI.

The ARC and career services computer labs are equipped with Macintosh computers with Microsoft Office software, as well as design programs, Internet access and printing upon request.

Staff are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students are welcome to drop in or phone 816-802-3371 to make an appointment.

Student Living Center
4421 Warwick Blvd.

The Student Living Center provides housing for freshman students and others who prefer on-campus living. Also located here are the school's cafeteria, art supply store, mail room and the Destination Gallery, which displays student work.

Career Counseling and Opportunities
The career services office provides advice and resources for students to find art-related employment. Lists of job and art-related Web sites are available for online research.

The staff expands students' knowledge of career options and assists them in career skills development and the creation of an organized career strategy through group and personal counseling sessions. Information on graduate schools is also available in our library.

In addition, our office receives requests from individuals in the community looking for students to help them with art-related projects and freelance work. Companies and small business owners also contact KCAI to seek graduates interested in full-time or part-time employment. To post items on this list, e-mail information to careerservices@kcai.edu.

Exchange and International Programs
The Academic Resource Center also houses exchange programs and international student services. Our exchange programs allow students to access classes and experiences not available on the KCAI campus. The international student services enhance the adjustment and success of our international students.
